The Fence Still Stands

Out behind the barn, there’s a stretch of old fence I mended years ago—wood worn smooth by weather, reinforced by hands that refused to give up on it. This morning, I leaned on it while watching the sunrise wash across the pasture, and it reminded me: it’s not always the newest, flashiest thing that matters. It’s what holds strong.

Life throws a lot at us. Wind, rain, doubt, delays. But like that fence, faith isn’t fragile. When it’s built right—on truth, with work—it holds.

Matthew 7:24 came to mind: “Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” Same goes for fences. And families. And businesses.

So here’s today’s reminder: you don’t have to look shiny to be strong. You just have to stand firm, serve well, and weather what comes. Because someone’s counting on that fence. Someone’s counting on you.
