Cannon Crud in Horses

Cannon crud is a common lower-leg skin management problem. The useful routine is gentle cleanup, full drying, clean gear, and the right skin-care path.

Quick answer: Do not scrub cannon crud raw. Loosen buildup gently, keep the area dry, clean boots and wraps, and choose cream, spray, or salve based on how broad or stubborn the area is.

When to get help

• Heat, swelling, pain, spreading, bleeding, or drainage.
• Deep cracks or repeated flare-ups.
• Lameness or sensitivity around the area.
