  • Tack trunk: bridle(s), pads, girths, breastcollar/martingale, spurs/crops, gloves.
  • Wraps/boots: shipping boots or quilts+standing bandages; polos for work.
  • First aid: restock from checklist; add headlamp, spare batteries.
  • Fill water jugs; load feed/hay close to door; lay out show clothes & numbers.
Countdown

T-2 Hours

  • Walk/groom; check legs/feet; scan for heat/fill.
  • Thin layer of gel on fronts & hamstrings → allow full absorption → apply shipping boots/wraps.
  • Rig walk-around: doors latched, breakaway pin, safety chains, lights, tire pressure.
  • Load trailer paperwork sleeve & contacts; confirm route & ETA.

Simple rule: thin → absorb → gear on. Keep product off high-friction tack contact if it reduces security.

FAQ

Quick rehydration routine on arrival?

Walk out 5–10 minutes, offer plain water and an electrolyte mix side-by-side, then hay. Re-offer in 20–30 minutes and top off before you leave the barn.

What if wraps keep slipping?

Use thinner product, ensure hair is dry before wrapping, increase overlap, and recheck tension. Consider shipping boots for simplicity.

Which documents must be in the trailer?

Current Coggins, health certificate (if required), vaccination records per show rules, and a contact card with vet/farrier/emergency numbers.

Load once. Roll confident.

Keep your travel kit tight and trusted—no sting, no smell, wrap-friendly once absorbed.
