Fly-Season Update: Smart Recovery for Calm Legs

New fly-protection formulas are rolling into the category. Great. But the real win is how your horse’s legs finish the day. Here’s the routine that pairs with fly control to keep tomorrow ride-ready.

Step 1 — Cool what’s hot

Skip the soak. Focus cooling on tendons and big muscle groups, then scrape between passes so warm water doesn’t trap heat. For precision zones, keep CryoSpray® in the tack room or trailer.

Step 2 — Dry to the bone

Compression on damp skin is a shortcut to rubs. Towel thoroughly; give airflow on humid days. Clean and dry legs make everything that follows actually work.

Step 3 — Support with a thin, even layer

Lay down a whisper-thin coat of Draw It Out® 16oz High Potency Gel. It’s sensation-free, dye-free, and show-aware—made to play nice under wraps or by itself on light days.

Step 4 — Wrap clean (when needed)

  1. Use clean quilts and standing wraps—no debris or wrinkles.
  2. Even tension with a two-finger check under the edge.
  3. Re-check at 30–45 minutes for comfort and temperature.

If skin looks irritated, skip wraps and treat skin first. Recovery is a system, not a race.
