- Choose three to five measures that matter for the individual horse, such as first steps, recovery time, water intake, skin response, or next-day movement.
- Record workload, footing, weather, travel, turnout, shoeing, tack, and product use alongside the outcome.
- Use the same observation method and timing so comparisons mean something.
- Review trends with the veterinarian, farrier, fitter, trainer, or nutrition professional when appropriate.
- Change the plan when evidence shows the horse is not tolerating the work or the routine.
