Common hot spot triggers

Moisture and trapped heat

After swims or rain, trapped moisture under collars or dense coats can kick off a loop.

Allergies and scratching

Pollen, dust, grass, or flea irritation can lead to scratching and licking.

Friction

Harness rubs and sweaty play sessions can aggravate areas fast.

Aim for dry skin, airflow, and a steady routine. Consistency beats constant product roulette.

90 second routine (hot spot support)

  • Clean: Rinse or wipe away dirt. Pat completely dry. Moisture keeps the loop going.
  • Spritz: Light, even mist of K9 Advanced Relief Spray on and around the irritated area.
  • Set: Let it absorb. Discourage licking during the set time.
  • Repeat: Daily and after wet play or swims while the area is still “restarting.”

If the area looks worse (heat, swelling, odor, discharge) or your dog seems painful, loop in your veterinarian.

When to add TheraMud

If the irritated area keeps restarting because of moisture, grime, or repeated outdoor exposure, add a short TheraMud step on surrounding stress zones. Shop K9 TheraMud

After you clean and dry Apply a thin layer where the coat stays damp or gets rubbed. Leave on 10 to 30 minutes, then rinse or wipe off.
Best use cases Post swim, post rain, post walk, under collar zones, and anywhere grit sticks and the skin stays stressed.

External use only. Avoid eyes, mouth, and inside the nose. Do not apply to open wounds or broken skin.

When to use what

Situation Daily comfort routine (K9 Advanced) HOCl spray (hypochlorous)
Irritated, itchy skin around hot spots Comfort support on surrounding skin. Gentle and repeatable. Used for cleansing in certain situations. Follow veterinary guidance.
Minor scrapes and cleanup Use after cleansing to support comfort. Short term cleansing as advised by your vet.
Frequency Daily or as needed, especially after swims or rain. Acute or short term per veterinary direction.

Keep flare ups down

Dry fast

Post swim or rain, towel and airflow the coat, especially under collars and harness points.

Brush routine

Regular brushing lifts trapped grit and helps air reach the skin.

Check the fit

Adjust collars and harnesses so they do not rub when wet or during play.

Fast answers

Can I use the spray daily?

Yes, it is designed for routine use. Keep application light, let it absorb, and discourage licking during the set time. Follow label directions.

Under bandages?

Let products absorb before covering. Keep wraps clean and dry and follow your veterinarian’s instructions.

Clip the hair?

Part the coat so air can reach the skin. If clipping seems helpful, consult your groomer or veterinarian for the safest approach.

When should I call my vet?

If you see heat, swelling, foul odor, discharge, rapid spread, pain, or behavior changes, contact your veterinarian promptly.
