Prepare the coat before taping

Apply only to clean, fully dry hair. Keep liniment, gel, oils, creams, and fly spray off the hair underneath the tape and its adhesive edges. Applying gel elsewhere in the routine does not make it suitable as a layer beneath tape.

Choose the application before cutting

Use the equine K Tape guide and qualified guidance for the application you intend to use. Tape is not a diagnosis or a reason to work a horse through unexplained discomfort. Do not apply over wounds or irritated skin, or use it to cover unexplained heat, swelling, or a suspected injury.

Check every application

Inspect daily and after sweating, bathing, turnout, or blanketing. Remove tape if you notice irritation, rubbing, trapped moisture, lifting, heat, swelling, or a change in comfort. Reassess the horse and skin before another application.
