How It’s Built
How to Apply
Clean and dry the area. Brush off dust and make sure hair is fully dry before you apply.
Cut strips to length and round every corner. Rounded corners reduce edge lift.
Use zero stretch on the first and last 1 to 2 inches. Keep tension light in the middle. If it feels tight like a wrap, it is too much.
Rub the tape to warm the adhesive. Give it 30 to 60 minutes before hard work or water.
Built for Movement
| Feature | EQUINE|DEFENDER™ K Tape | Traditional wraps |
|---|---|---|
| Support style | Flexible support and cueing that moves with the horse | Compression and protection when applied evenly |
| Consistency | Repeatable once you learn the basics | Results depend heavily on consistent tension and technique |
| Moisture and sweat | Water resistant and breathable for day to day use | Can hold moisture depending on material and conditions |
| Time to apply | Fast cut and place application | More time to apply correctly, especially for even pressure |
| Removal | Best removed slowly with hair growth using a water first method | Remove and reapply as needed based on work and conditions |
These guides cover the most common questions riders have. Use the hub for the full foundation.
Prep, anchors, light tension, activation, and removal basics.
Water first removal method and how to prevent irritation.
Pick the right tool for the day and stop stacking pressure.
Anchors at zero stretch. Middle is gentle guidance, not compression.
Pick the option that matches your week. This keeps your routine consistent and cuts down on reordering.
Best for one horse, occasional use, or trying tape for the first time.
Best for multiple horses, show weeks, hauling blocks, or keeping extra rolls in the trailer. Six rolls with better value.
Tape works best as a routine tool, not a one time fix. Most riders tape for 24 to 72 hours, then remove and let skin reset if needed. Reapply based on hold, workload, and skin comfort.
Apply before the block. Check edges daily. Remove if edges lift and rub or if skin looks irritated.
Keep it simple and light. Plan removal time so you are not rushing right before a ride.
Movement breaks matter most. Tape can be a support option when applied clean and kept light.
