Horse Health FAQ Hub

Straight answers for real riders. From stocking up and wraps to show-safe liniments, SI support, hauling, and daily recovery—this hub keeps it simple, safe, and effective.

Foundations

What is horse liniment?

Horse liniment is a topical used to support muscles, tendons, and joints before or after work. Draw It Out® liniments are naturally derived, sensation-free, and formulated to be show-safe for daily use.

Is Draw It Out® safe to use under wraps?

Yes. Our gel and concentrate are formulated for use under standing wraps, polos, or boots. Because they don’t produce heat, they won’t “cook” or blister when applied properly.

Are your products show-safe?

Yes—our formulas are made to be competition friendly. Riders use them confidently across disciplines because they’re designed without banned substances.

What’s the difference between gel and concentrate?

Gel: ready-to-use, stays where you put it, great under wraps.
Concentrate: mix with water for spray-downs, baths, or larger areas; ideal for barns that go through volume.

When should I use liniment?

After schooling, hauling, or hard work; when you see stocking up; or as a pre-ride warm-up on stiff days. Many riders make it part of their everyday recovery routine.

Stocking Up & Swelling

Can liniment help with stocking up?

Yes. Regular application supports healthy fluid movement and recovery post-work or post-haul. Pair with correct wrapping and hand-walking where appropriate.

How do I apply under standing wraps?

Clean and dry legs → apply a thin, even layer of gel → cotton/quilt → standing bandage with even pressure → check snugness (two fingers) → remove after 6–8 hours.

What if my horse has sensitive skin?

Our sensation-free, alcohol-free formulas are a go-to for sensitive horses. Test any new product on a small area first and avoid wrapping over damp, dirty, or irritated skin.

Will Draw It Out® irritate clipped legs?

Clipped skin can be more reactive to anything. Apply a small test area first, let it sit, then proceed if the skin looks normal. Wrap clean, dry legs only.

Training & Show Days

Pre-ride vs. post-ride—what’s the move?

Pre-ride: light application on known stiff zones to support mobility. Post-ride: broader coverage to support recovery and help limit stocking up.

Can I layer with poultice?

Yes. Apply liniment first, allow it to set, then add poultice and wrap as desired. Keep layers thin and even for proper pressure and airflow.

Can I use it with ice boots or cold therapy?

Yes. Apply a thin layer, let it absorb, then use your cold therapy. Keep moisture away from the skin before wrapping to avoid friction.

How often can I apply on multi-day shows?

Daily is common—before and after effort. Many riders also add a concentrate spray-down in the evenings for whole-body cooldown.

Mobility & Joint Comfort

What’s best for a stiff hock or knee day?

Spot-apply gel pre-ride to support range of motion; follow with post-ride application under a standing wrap if appropriate. For skin-level comfort, see Rapid Relief Restorative Cream.

Can I use it on the back or SI area?

Yes. Massage a thin layer along the longissimus and SI region. For targeted patterns, consider EQUINE | DEFENDER kinesiology taping guidance and keep skin clean/dry.

Does it help older/senior horses?

Consistent, gentle support helps seniors stay comfortable. Combine daily light movement, proper footing, and routine topical support for best results.

Skin & Topical Care

Can I use Rapid Relief Restorative Cream with liniment?

Yes—use liniment for muscles/tendons, and Rapid Relief for skin-level comfort and barrier support. Apply separately to clean, dry skin.

Do I need to wash it off?

No rinse is required. “You don’t need to wash off” ≠ “never wash.” Normal bathing and routine grooming are fine.

Can I apply on minor scrapes?

Avoid using liniment directly on open or raw areas. For skin-level care, use appropriate topical products and follow your barn’s wound-care protocol.

Hauling & Travel

Best routine for long hauls?

Before loading: light application to lower limbs and back. After haul: hand-walk, then gel under standing wraps for 6–8 hours to help limit stocking up.

Concentrate mix for post-haul spray-downs?

Mix per label into a clean spray bottle; apply to large muscle groups after unloading. Towel off excess moisture before wraps or sheets.

Wraps, Boots & Application

How tight should standing wraps be?

Even, snug pressure—two fingers under the bandage. Always wrap front to back, inside to outside, with even tension and no wrinkles.

Can I use it under sport boots or polos?

Yes—thin layer, fully absorbed, clean legs, and make sure boots are dry to prevent friction.

How much product is “enough”?

Start thin. You can always add a touch more. The goal is contact, not excess. Too much can saturate cottons and add unnecessary moisture.

Safety & Sensitivity

Any warming or cooling “zing” I should expect?

No. Draw It Out® is sensation-free—no menthol sting, no spicy surprises. That’s why riders trust it under wraps and on sensitive horses.

Patch test—how do I do it?

Apply a small amount to a clean, dry spot; wait a few hours; check skin. If normal, proceed. If redness or irritation occurs, discontinue and consult your vet.

Can I combine with other topicals?

Yes, but layer thoughtfully and keep skin dry between products. Avoid stacking strong actives directly on each other without guidance.

Routines & Results

How fast will I notice a difference?

Post-work comfort and stocking-up support are often noticed the same day. Consistent, daily routines deliver the most reliable results.

Daily maintenance vs. “only when sore”?

Daily light use keeps horses moving their best—especially at shows or during heavy training blocks. Adjust based on workload and your horse’s feedback.

Any barn hacks to speed recovery?

Yes: hand-walking, raised-pole work on off days, good hydration, cool-downs, proper wraps, and a consistent topical routine. Small habits compound.

Products & Fit

Which product should I start with?

Most riders start with our ready-to-use gel for legs/under wraps, plus Rapid Relief Restorative Cream for skin-level comfort.

When does the Concentrate make sense?

High-use barns and show teams love it for spray-downs and baths. It’s efficient for large-area coverage and cost-effective per use.

Can I use Draw It Out® on people?

Our equine products are built for horses. For people, use our sister line, ReJüv Gel, which is formulated specifically for human skin.

Troubleshooting

My horse reacted—what now?

Stop use, gently cleanse with mild soap and water, and allow the skin to settle. Review wrap technique and layering. If irritation persists, consult your veterinarian.

Wraps slid down—did I apply too much?

Possibly. Use a thin layer and ensure legs and cottons are dry before wrapping. Re-roll your bandages to maintain even tension.

Can I bathe after application?

Yes. You don’t need to rinse the product off, but regular bathing as part of your normal routine is fine. Dry thoroughly before any wraps.
