Make the routine easy to repeat

  1. Start with a clear baseline. Take photos of the coat, mane, or tail in even light. Note tangles, dry-feeling hair, and the areas you want to watch.
  2. Groom gently. Remove loose dirt and work through tangles in small sections, supporting the hair as you go.
  3. Choose products for the job. Follow the current label for where, how much, and how often to apply. Avoid changing several parts of the routine at once.
  4. Keep a short daily note. Record what you used and what you observed. Include weather, turnout, bathing, or tack changes that could affect the comparison.
  5. Check in on day ten. Take photos from the same angles and in similar light. Keep the useful habits and adjust the routine to your horse’s needs.

Ten days is a check-in point, not a promise of hair growth or a particular result. Persistent irritation, unexplained hair loss, or worsening skin changes deserve a veterinarian’s attention.
