Draw It Out® — Layer Smarter

Liniment Layering System

The barn-simple order of operations for cleaner, safer topicals: Thin Gel → Absorb → (Optional) Barrier & Tape. No sting. No scent. Wrap-friendly when absorbed.

Be your horse’s hero. We’ll help you do it.

Rule of Three

1) Thin Gel → 2) Absorb → 3) Optional Barrier or Tape

  1. Thin Gel (Pre/Post Ride): Apply a light, even layer to fronts/shoulders, back/SI & loins, and hindquarters/hamstrings. Massage in.
  2. Absorb Fully: Wait ~1–2 min for a thin coat. Dry-to-touch hair = ready. Wipe any excess near tack contact.
  3. Optional Layers:
    • Barrier Cream (spot only): For wet/muddy rub zones (cannon crud, pasterns). Don’t coat entire limbs under wraps.
    • Kinesiology Support: Apply after gel absorbs, on dry, intact skin per EQUINE | DEFENDER directions.

Keep products out of high-friction saddle/girth contact if they reduce security. Test tack before mounting.

Fast Checks

Absorption & Fit

  • Touch Test: Hair should feel dry, not slick.
  • Wraps: Intact skin only; thin product; recheck heat/tension in 15–30 min.
  • Travel: Light gel on fronts & hamstrings; absorb fully before loading; reapply thinly after haul.
  • Tack Security: Avoid slick layers under pad/girth panel; wipe excess.
Pre-Ride

Loosen-Up Recipe (2–3 Minutes)

  1. Brush clean & dry. Quick heat/fill scan.
  2. Thin gel: fronts/shoulders, back/SI & loins, hamstrings. Let absorb fully.
  3. Warm-up: long-and-low, circles, serpentines; add transitions when swing appears.
Post-Ride

Cool-Down Recipe (3–5 Minutes)

  1. Walk down; remove gear; wipe sweat/dust.
  2. Thin gel on worked zones; allow absorption.
  3. Standing wraps optional per program; monitor heat/tension.
Wet Weather

Barrier Mindset (Spot Only)

  1. Thin gel → absorb fully.
  2. Apply Rapid Relief Cream only to exposed trouble spots (cannon crud, mud zones).
  3. Avoid heavy layers under wraps/pads.
Skin Support

Targeted Care

  1. For skin support, use SilverHoof EQ Therapy® per label.
  2. Keep out of eyes and mucosa; intact skin only.
  3. Layer away from high-friction tack contact.
Do / Don’t

Layer Smarter

  • Do keep gel thin; more isn’t better under wraps.
  • Do allow full absorption before barrier/tape/wraps.
  • Do avoid slick layers under saddle/girth panel contact.
  • Don’t apply to open wounds, eyes, or mucosa.
  • Don’t tape over wet product or compromised skin.
  • Don’t stack multiple heavy products on the same zone.
Fix It Fast

Troubleshooting

  • Feels greasy: Use less gel; wait longer; wipe excess near tack.
  • Wraps too warm/slipping: Thinner application; ensure dry hair; re-wrap with even tension.
  • Horse reactive: Stop, rinse with water, reassess fit/workload; consult your vet if needed.
Safety first: Topicals support comfort routines—they’re not medical treatments. Use on intact skin only. Always confirm tack security and follow your veterinarian, farrier, saddle-fitter, and trainer’s guidance.

FAQ

Can I layer gel, then barrier cream, then wrap?

Yes—with restraint. Thin gel → fully absorb → spot barrier only if needed → then wrap. Avoid heavy stacks and recheck heat/tension after 15–30 minutes.

How much gel is “thin”?

About a dime-size per major zone (e.g., a shoulder or hamstring) is plenty. You want contact—not slickness.

Is this show-friendly?

Yes. Sensation-free, odorless gel fits tight timelines and sensitive horses. Always review current rules for your discipline.

Layer clean. Ride better.

Build a routine that fits real barns and real schedules—no sting, no smell, wrap-friendly once absorbed.
