Real Riders of Draw It Out®: Rivers Turner

Some riders learn the hard way that “good enough” care costs you later.

Rivers Turner didn’t wait to learn it twice.

She’s based in Mathiston, Mississippi, and she’s been riding and caring for horses for 16 years. Her world is barrel racing and pole bending, and her setup is the real deal. She owns her place, keeps her routine steady, and adjusts with the seasons without letting the work slide.

Meet French Fry and Triple

French Fry is an 8 year old dun Quarter Horse mare. Triple is an 8 year old bay Quarter Horse mare.

French Fry has already earned her story the tough way. She had to have her splint bone removed, then went through extensive stall rest and standing wraps. That kind of recovery doesn’t just test legs. It tests everything, including the back and shoulders from standing in a stall all day.

Her seasonal routine (Mississippi edition)

Rivers doesn’t pretend weather isn’t a factor. She just plans around it.

  • Summer: stalled during the day, turned out at night
  • Winter: turned out during the day, stalled at night
  • Training: keeps the exercising routine about the same no matter the season

What she uses and why

Rivers’ go to for seasonal challenges is Citraquin. It’s the one that travels everywhere with them.

When French Fry was on stall rest, Rivers relied on Draw It Out liniment for her back and shoulders to take the edge off the ache that comes from standing around.

Now that they are back to work and getting fit again, she uses Master Mudd on the legs to help keep swelling down and to handle tenderness that shows up as conditioning ramps back up.

“My mom started using Draw It Out years ago because of the ingredients in the products and I was a small child. Now it is a staple in our barn and our house. We use the restorative spray on any skin issues or lesions for dogs or horses.”

How she found Draw It Out®

She saw the booth at a show and has been using it ever since.

And she recommends it because the ingredients are not as harmful, and the results show up where it counts.

Favorite place to ride

Rivers loves going to the Horse Park in Starkville, Mississippi at Mississippi State University.

Real rider mindset

Her best tip is simple: keep body condition right and keep the feet right.

That’s the base. Everything else stacks on top.

Mississippi barrel racer Rivers Turner shares how French Fry recovered from splint bone surgery and stall rest, and why Citraquin, Master Mudd, and Draw It Out liniment are staples in her barn through every season.
