Quick answer: Use products on clean, appropriate areas, follow the label, and match the product to the job. Do not use topical products to cover up lameness, heat, swelling, open wounds, or worsening symptoms.

Use rules that prevent bad decisions

  • Clean first. Dirt, sweat, mud, and loose hair can interfere with application.
  • Use the right lane. Hoof products for hoof concerns, skin products for skin concerns, liniment for body support, K9 products for dogs.

  • Do not treat unknown lameness with product first. Heat, swelling, pain, or sudden change needs professional attention.
