Standing Wraps and Recovery

Standing wraps can be useful in the right hands and harmful in the wrong situation. The decision starts with why you are wrapping and whether heat, swelling, pain, wounds, or lameness are present.

Quick answer: Do not wrap to hide a problem. Wrap only when you know why, can apply even pressure, have appropriate padding, and have ruled out urgent swelling, heat, pain, wounds, or lameness.

Do not guess-wrap

  • Hot, painful, sudden, one-sided, or wounded swelling.
  • Unknown lameness or tendon-area pain.
  • Poor padding, uneven pressure, or wraps left on too long.
  • Legs you cannot check regularly.

Wrap routine checks

  • Use clean legs, clean padding, and clean wraps.
  • Apply smooth, even pressure without ridges.
  • Check for heat, swelling, rubs, slipping, or pressure points.
  • Do not apply over dirt, debris, open wounds, or product combinations you do not understand.
