Meet Morgan and the horses at Heideman Farms

For Morgan Heideman, horse life is rooted at home in Fort Lupton, Colorado. In her June 2025 submission, she shared 26 years of riding experience and a six-horse herd at Heideman Farms. Barrel racing is her main discipline, but the everyday connection to her horses reaches well beyond the arena.

Cappuccino, her longtime barrel partner

Cappuccino is a chocolate palomino Quarter Horse and the partner Morgan had been running barrels with for 16 years when she applied. He was 22 at the time. Their history includes a Little Britches Rodeo photograph of the pair running home that Morgan says hangs in an Applebee’s in Brighton, Colorado.

That kind of partnership is built across years of rides, travel, and daily care. Cappuccino is a familiar face in a herd with plenty of personality.

Six horses, six personalities

  • Cappuccino: her 22-year-old chocolate palomino Quarter Horse and longtime barrel horse.
  • Belle: a 23-year-old dun Quarter Horse.
  • Geronimo: a 15-year-old dun Pinto pony.
  • Baxter: a 15-year-old bay APHA Paint.
  • Maggie Mae: a 19-year-old buckskin Paint.
  • Hannah: a seven-year-old sorrel Paint and Morgan’s new project at the time.

These ages and details reflect Morgan’s June 2025 submission.

The routine behind the ride

Morgan named Liniment Gel, Liniment Concentrate, Rapid Relief Spray, and EQUINE | DEFENDER™ K Tape as products in her routine. Gel and tape were her favorites. She also described keeping products protected from seasonal temperature extremes.

A MagnaWave practitioner, Morgan was working toward a taping certification when she applied. Her interest in learning and hands-on care is part of the work she brings to her own horses and her local horse community.

Making room for the next generation

Some of Morgan’s favorite riding happens in the fields at the farm with her sons. She also described supporting youth divisions when she sets up her MagnaWave services at events.

Her story brings together a longtime barrel partnership, a varied herd, and a desire to help young riders find their own place in the sport. We are proud to recognize Morgan as our June 2025 Real Rider.
