Wrap routine education

Safe Under Wraps Horse Liniment

Short answer: a horse liniment should only be used under wraps when the formula, skin condition, amount applied, and wrap routine make sense. Clean, intact skin and correct wrapping matter more than habit.

The safe-under-wraps rule

Do not wrap because a product label or barn habit made it sound automatic. Wrapping over too much product, wet skin, irritated skin, open skin, poor padding, or poor tension can create problems. If you do not know how to wrap correctly, get hands-on instruction.

Before using liniment under wraps

Green lights

  • Skin is clean, dry, and intact.
  • The horse is not suddenly lame or severely swollen.
  • You are using a thin, even layer.
  • The wrap is applied correctly and checked.

Stop signs

  • Open wounds, rubs, fungus-like irritation, or raw skin.
  • Heat, severe swelling, or unexplained lameness.
  • Product stacking under wraps.
  • Wrapping without skill, supervision, or a clear reason.

Product fit

Draw It Out® Liniment Gel is the targeted format riders often choose when placement matters. Use the least product needed and recheck the horse. For broad spray routines without wraps, consider RTU Spray or Concentrate.
