Draw It Out® buyer guide

Best Draw It Out® Product for Horse Stiffness, Soreness, and Recovery

Most riders do not need five recovery products. They need the right format for the job: targeted gel, broad-coverage concentrate, or a heavier clay-brace step. Start with what you are treating as a routine care need, how large the area is, and how often you will use it.

Quick answer: for normal, targeted post-work body care, start with Draw It Out® 16oz Liniment Gel. Move to 64oz Gel when several horses or frequent use make barn size practical. Choose Concentrate for spray bottles, sponging, or broad coverage, and MasterMudd™ EquiBrace™ when the routine calls for a thicker clay brace.

First decide whether this is routine soreness

Topical recovery care fits familiar patterns after normal work: a horse feels generally tight, you know the workload changed, or you are maintaining a consistent post-ride routine. It is not the first answer for sudden lameness, marked heat, severe swelling, a new wound, unsafe movement, or pain that is getting worse.

Routine-care pattern

The horse is moving safely, the change is mild and familiar, there is no acute heat or major swelling, and the horse improves with sensible cooldown, rest, and monitoring.

Stop-and-assess pattern

The horse is lame, short-strided in a new way, hot or painful in one area, unusually weak, reluctant to move, or worse the next day. Call the appropriate veterinarian, farrier, or qualified professional.

Gel vs concentrate vs clay brace

Choose gel for placement

Gel makes sense when you want to put product exactly where the horse normally feels tight and work it into a repeatable hands-on routine. It is the simplest first purchase for most individual horse owners.

Choose concentrate for coverage

Concentrate fits riders who prefer a spray, sponge, wash-rack, or wrap routine. The value comes from flexibility and volume, but only if you measure the mix and use it consistently.

Choose clay brace for a heavier step

MasterMudd™ fits a leg-focused routine where a thick brace is intentional. It takes more application and cleanup than gel, so it should solve a real routine need rather than simply add another product.

Choose size after format

Do not buy the largest container first just because the unit cost is lower. Prove the format in your routine, then move to barn size when frequency and number of horses justify it.

A simple post-work recovery sequence

  1. Cool the horse down. Walk, monitor breathing, and manage heat according to the weather and workload.
  2. Check before applying. Compare both sides for heat, swelling, tenderness, wounds, hoof changes, and movement.
  3. Clean the target area. Remove sweat, mud, and grit so product is not rubbed into dirty skin.
  4. Apply the right format. Use a thin layer of gel, a measured concentrate mix, or the clay-brace method on the label.
  5. Recheck later and the next day. Track whether the horse returns to normal or develops a pattern that needs professional assessment.

When a recovery product is not enough

  • Sudden or consistent lameness
  • One-sided heat, marked swelling, or pain
  • Strong digital pulse, hoof heat, or reluctance to bear weight
  • Weakness, wobbling, repeated stumbling, or unsafe movement
  • Fever, distress, colic signs, dehydration concern, or poor recovery after work
  • A problem that returns every time the horse performs the same task

Do not use a topical product to cover up a pattern that needs diagnosis. Good recovery care supports judgment; it does not replace it.

Product-selection FAQ

Which Draw It Out® product should a first-time buyer choose?

For normal targeted post-work care, the 16oz Liniment Gel is the clearest first bottle. It is ready to use and gives an individual horse owner enough product to establish a consistent routine before moving to barn size.

Is the 64oz Gel stronger than the 16oz Gel?

No. The practical difference is container size, not the job the gel performs. Choose 64oz when frequency or multiple horses justify the larger format.

When should I choose Concentrate instead of Gel?

Choose Concentrate when you want spray, sponge, broad-coverage, or measured mix-to-use flexibility. Choose Gel when targeted ready-to-use placement is more important.

Is MasterMudd™ the same as liniment gel?

No. MasterMudd™ EquiBrace™ is a heavier clay-brace format. Liniment Gel is a ready-to-use gel for targeted topical routines. Compare the job, application time, and cleanup before choosing.

Can I use a recovery product if my horse is lame?

New or unexplained lameness needs assessment. Do not let product use delay veterinary or farrier care, especially when heat, swelling, hoof changes, pain, or worsening movement is present.

Educational support only. Follow label directions and involve your veterinarian, farrier, or qualified equine professional when soreness is sudden, severe, one-sided, worsening, or affecting movement.
