Current product status and braid prep

ShowBarn Secret® Braiding Spray

Direct answer: ShowBarn Secret® Braiding Spray has been retired from the current Draw It Out® lineup and is no longer sold directly on drawliniment.com. This guide remains live for existing owners and for riders looking for a clean braid-prep routine.

Black Braiding Tape is an adjacent braid tool, not a spray replacement. The current lineup does not include a direct Braiding Spray replacement.

How to prep a horse's mane without braiding spray

  1. Start clean and dry. Remove sweat, dust, and loose debris, then let the mane dry completely.
  2. Avoid heavy slip. Do not load the mane with oily conditioner immediately before braiding.
  3. Section evenly. Use a comb and consistent section width so tension is distributed more evenly.
  4. Keep tension controlled. Braids should be secure without pulling hard at the roots or irritating the crest.
  5. Finish with the correct tool. Use Black Braiding Tape where tape fits the discipline and desired finish.
  6. Check the horse. Remove or redo work that causes rubbing, head tossing, tenderness, or skin irritation.

If you already own Braiding Spray

Use only a container with a readable label and normal appearance. Follow the directions and warnings on the bottle. Avoid eyes, mouth, mucous membranes, and irritated skin. Discard old, damaged, contaminated, or unlabeled product.

Braiding Spray FAQ

Is ShowBarn Secret® Braiding Spray discontinued?

Yes. It has been retired from the current direct lineup and is no longer sold on drawliniment.com.

Does Black Braiding Tape replace Braiding Spray?

No. Tape is a finishing tool. It does not clean, condition, or act like a grooming spray.

Can I braid without a spray?

Yes. Clean, fully dry hair, even sections, controlled tension, and the right finishing method matter more than forcing a spray into the routine.

Can I use a bottle I already own?

Use it only when the label is readable and the product appears normal. Follow the bottle directions and warnings, and discard old, damaged, contaminated, or unlabeled product.

This page preserves current status and label-first guidance for customers who already own the retired product. It is not an offer to sell.
