Whole Bean

The everyday medium roast that keeps the peace between smooth, sweet and strong enough.

Smith River blends coffees from Brazil, Colombia and Guatemala into a balanced medium roast with rich praline sweetness, subtle nuttiness and a clean, smooth finish. It has enough body to feel satisfying, enough brightness to stay lively and the kind of approachable character that works morning after morning.

What is in the cup

  • Tasting notes: Praline and nutty sweetness
  • Roast: Medium
  • Body: Smooth, comfortable medium body
  • Acidity: Balanced
  • Finish: Clean and rounded
  • Origin scores: Brazil 83, Colombia 84, Guatemala 85

Three origins, one balanced cup

  • Brazil: Cerrado
  • Colombia: Huila and Cauca
  • Guatemala: Antigua and Huehuetenango
  • Overall elevation: 900 to 2,000 meters above sea level

Each origin has a job. Brazilian coffee establishes the chocolate and praline foundation. Colombian coffee adds clean sweetness and structure. Guatemalan coffee brings highland complexity and a gentle brightness that keeps the blend lively.

Processing

  • Brazilian component: 900 to 1,400 meters, pulped-natural process for body and chocolate richness
  • Colombian component: 1,200 to 1,800 meters, fully washed for clarity and balance
  • Guatemalan component: 1,500 to 2,000 meters, washed for brightness and complexity

The complementary processing methods create a dependable cup with natural sweetness, balanced structure and a smooth finish.

Blend composition

Caturra, Colombia, Castillo, Typica, Bourbon, Catuaí and Mundo Novo

Colombian Caturra, Colombia and Castillo contribute clean brightness and structure. Guatemalan Bourbon and Typica add sweetness and complexity. Brazilian Catuaí and Mundo Novo provide the body and chocolate foundation. Seven varietals from three established coffee regions work together without one overpowering the rest.

Independently tested coffee

  • Certified mycotoxin free
  • Certified heavy-metal free: Tested for lead, mercury, cadmium and arsenic
  • Certified mold and yeast free

The roasting supplier uses independent third-party laboratory testing on the finished coffee. Smith River is roasted to order in small batches and shipped fresh.
