Draw It Out® Horse Health Care News
Perlino and cremello horses are both double-dilute coat colors. They are beautiful, but color should never distract from soundness, training, mind, and daily care.
Perlino and cremello horses can confuse people because both are pale, both often have light eyes, and both carry that striking double-cream look.
The mistake is thinking color rarity equals horse quality. It does not. Color may help you identify the horse. It does not tell you whether the horse is sound, sane, useful, trained, or a fit for the rider.
Identify the color, then judge the horse.
Cremello is usually a chestnut-base horse with two cream genes. Perlino is usually a bay-base horse with two cream genes. Both can have pale coats, light eyes, and pink skin, but perlino horses may show slightly darker points in the mane, tail, ears, or lower legs.
ShowBarn Secret® grooming products can fit light-coat routines where stains, mane and tail care, and coat presentation matter. Use grooming as inspection, not just polishing.

Perlino and cremello are worth understanding, especially if breeding is involved. But the horse still has to stand on good feet, move well, think clearly, and hold up under real care.
This article gives you the background. If you are ready to put the idea into a real horse care routine, these are the next places most riders should go.
