Before wrapping
- Confirm why the horse is being wrapped and whether a veterinarian has given instructions.

- Use clean, dry quilts or cottons and wraps in good condition.
- Make sure the leg and any label-directed topical are prepared as directed.
Thin-layer method
Use only the amount specified by the current label. Avoid heavy product buildup that can create slipping, residue, or uneven pressure. Apply padding smoothly, then wrap with consistent overlap and tension.
Safety checks
- Check the wrap soon after application.
- Look for slipping, bunching, pressure points, heat, swelling above or below the wrap, or changes in the horse's stance.
- Remove and reapply a questionable wrap instead of trying to adjust it in place.
- Follow the schedule set by the current label and your veterinarian.
Do not wrap
Do not wrap over a deep or draining wound, rapidly increasing swelling, significant heat, severe tenderness, or unexplained lameness without veterinary direction. Stop and call your veterinarian when the concern is severe, worsening, or unclear.
