Protect the tail you worked to grow

ShowBarn Secret® Deluxe Tail Bag

A durable tail-protection step for clean, managed tails during turnout, travel, show prep, and everyday barn life.

Choose this when: the tail is already clean and cared for, and the next job is protecting it from dirt, rubbing, travel mess, and unnecessary breakage.

Best for

  • Show horses and long-tail care.
  • Keeping a prepared tail cleaner between grooming sessions.
  • Trailer trips and show-week organization.
  • Reducing ordinary barn wear after the underlying tail and skin are checked.

The rule that protects the horse

Never bag a dirty, wet, irritated, or itchy tail and call the job done. Check the dock for rubbing, scabs, parasites, moisture, and irritation first. The bag protects a healthy, managed tail; it does not treat the reason a horse is rubbing.

Simple tail-bag routine

  1. Clean, dry, and detangle the tail completely.
  2. Inspect the dock and tail skin.
  3. Braid and secure according to your normal safe routine.
  4. Check the bag and tail regularly rather than leaving it unattended for long periods.

Read the Horse Tail Thinning Guide or shop the grooming collection.

Grooming accessory only. Address skin irritation, rubbing, parasites, or infection before bagging the tail.
